BudgetVault Privacy Policy

1. Overview

BudgetVault ("the App") is a personal finance tracker for Android built by Yodabi s.p. Core budgeting works offline. Your financial records are stored in a local database on your device and are not sent to a BudgetVault server or cloud account. We do not operate a server that receives your data. The App does not show advertising and does not include analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs. The limited network requests made by optional features and by Google Play services are described in section 4. This policy explains what the App stores, what leaves the device and when, and the choices you have.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

The information you enter is stored locally in the App’s private storage on your device. This includes:

• Transactions. Amounts, categories, notes, dates, transfers, and transaction splits.
• Accounts. Account names, currencies, and balances.
• Budgets and categories. Budget limits, custom categories, and auto-categorization rules.
• Recurring items. Tracked subscriptions, payment reminders, and transaction templates.
• Planning records. Savings goals, debts and debt payments, and net worth snapshots.
• Exchange rates. Rates you enter or fetch, stored locally.
• Settings and preferences. Currency, language, theme, reminder times, whether PIN or biometric lock is enabled, a hashed form of your PIN, and your Pro purchase status.

Receipt images are not saved by the App. When you scan a receipt, the image is used only to read the amount, date, and merchant text on your device. Only the details you choose to keep in the transaction are saved.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, receive, or store your personal or financial records on our servers. Specifically:

• No advertising, advertising ID, or ad SDKs.
• No analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.
• No user accounts or registration.
• No cloud sync or remote storage operated by us.
• No location data.
• No contact or phone data.
• No usage telemetry sent to us.

4. Network Requests and Third-Party Services

The App uses the internet only for the purposes below. None of these requests include your account names, balances, transactions, budgets, or other financial records.

Exchange-rate lookup (optional)

When you tap the fetch button while adding an exchange rate, the App sends the two selected currency codes (for example, EUR and USD) to the Frankfurter exchange-rate service at api.frankfurter.app over HTTPS. As with any internet request, the service receives standard network information such as your IP address. This happens only when you request it. You can enter rates manually instead.

Google Play purchases

BudgetVault Pro is sold as a one-time purchase through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment and handles your Google account and payment details under Google’s Privacy Policy. The App queries Google Play for available products and your existing purchases so it can unlock or restore Pro. We do not receive your payment-card details.

Google Play app updates and reviews

The App uses Google Play’s in-app update and in-app review features. These ask Google Play whether an update is available and may show Google’s rating prompt. If you choose to rate the App, the Google Play Store may open. These interactions are handled by Google Play.

Receipt scanning (Pro, optional)

Receipt scanning uses Google’s document scanner and ML Kit text recognition, both provided through Google Play services. The scanner captures the image (the App itself does not request camera permission), and text recognition runs on your device. The receipt image and the recognized text are not sent to us. Google Play services may download the scanner and text-recognition components after the App is installed or the first time you use the feature. Google’s ML Kit documentation states that ML Kit may contact Google to receive updates and may send Google metrics about the performance and use of these APIs. That processing is governed by Google’s terms and privacy policy.

Fonts

The App’s typefaces are requested through Google Play services’ downloadable fonts provider, which may download the font files from Google if they are not already on your device.

Contacting us

The “Report a Bug” and “Request a Feature” options open your email app. If you send us an email, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message, and we use it only to respond.

5. Backups, Exports and Deletion

Backups and exports you create. The Backup option in Settings saves a ZIP file containing a copy of the App’s database, which includes all of your financial records. CSV and PDF exports contain the transactions and reports you select. These files are created only when you request them, and you choose where they are saved using Android’s file picker (for example, your device storage or a cloud storage provider). Backup, CSV, and PDF files are not encrypted or password-protected. Anyone who can open the file can read its contents, so store and share them only in places you trust. Once you save or send a file to another app, storage provider, or person, their privacy practices apply.

Android device backup. The App allows Android’s backup service. If backup is turned on for your device and Google account, Android may include the App’s data (its database and settings, including the hashed PIN) in your device backup stored in your Google account, and may copy it when you transfer data to a new device. This backup is operated by Google under your Google account settings; we have no access to it. You can turn off backup in Android’s system settings.

Deleting your data. You can edit or delete individual records in the App. To remove all App data from your device, clear the App’s storage in Android Settings or uninstall the App. Copies in your own backup or export files, and in any Android device backup in your Google account, are not removed by this; delete them where they are stored. Because we do not hold your data, there is no server-side copy for us to delete.

6. Permissions

The App requests the following permissions:

• Internet. For the optional exchange-rate lookup and the Google Play features described in section 4.
• Notifications. To show daily reminders, budget alerts, subscription renewal reminders, and payment reminders. These are generated on your device. You can turn off the daily reminder in the App and turn off any notifications in Android settings.
• Biometric authentication. Optional (Pro), to unlock the App with your fingerprint or face through Android’s biometric prompt. The App does not receive or store biometric data.

7. Data Security

Your data is protected by your device’s built-in security, such as screen lock and Android device encryption. The App’s database is not separately encrypted by the App. The optional PIN lock stores a hashed form of your PIN, not the PIN itself, in the App’s private storage, and the optional biometric lock is handled by Android on your device.

The PIN and biometric lock protect the App’s screens only. If you add the home-screen widget, it shows your current month’s totals and top spending categories on your home screen. Notifications, such as budget alerts that name a category and the percentage spent, may appear on your lock screen depending on your Android notification settings.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the App and provided information, contact us so we can address it.

9. Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The current version and its effective date will be published on this page.
